28th July

28th July has Radio 4’s newest signing TEZ ILYAS come to town.

Tez has recently been seen in his own Live at the BBC Special as well as popping up on various panel shows.

He achieved phenomenal success with his debut stand up show TEZ Talks, which was met with packed out audiences and huge critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A totally sold-out run at the Soho Theatre followed, with additional dates at the prestigious Southbank Centre.

TEZ Talks has since been commissioned for a series by BBC Radio 4.

Tez has appeared on Live From the BBC (BBC Two), Virtually Famous (E4), The Now Show (BBC Radio 4), @elevenish (ITV2) and The Funny Thing About… (Channel 5) as well as writing and starring in his own scripted comedy shorts for BBC iPlayer and Sky Arts. Later this year Tez returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with his highly anticipated follow up show: Made in Britain.

‘Blackburn-born Ilyas has a slickness more reminiscent of US comics, and the gags to back it up, though his most prized asset could yet be his bold, subversive streak’ The Guardian

Joining Tez are George Rigden and Jake Lambert.

Bristol-based musical comic George has been making an impact on the UK comedy scene since debuting in 2013. A sardonic wit and knowing act always willing to highlight his own shortcomings to hilarious effect.

"George Rigden has to be one of our favourite new comedians. Musical (not in a naff way), personable and cheeky. We won’t hesitate to book him at every available opportunity."   Mark Makin, co-director, Cheltenham & Leamington Spa Comedy Festivals

"Managed to combine the bombast of Mitch Benn with the creepiness of Earl Okin" Julia Chamberlain, Chortle

"Certainly a name to watch out for in the future." Bristol Culture

Jake Lambert is a fast-rising star in the comedy world having reached the finals of every major comedy competition in his first two years of performing.

"Brilliant one-liners" Chortle

"An abundance of one-liners, clever wordplay, short stories and strange thoughts which deliver a constant stream of laughter." Comedy Cow

"Destined for big things" Laughing Badger Comedy
